PlayWise Learning CIC Services

PlayWise Learning CIC is based on the Portage model of excellence and specialist knowledge to support children with additional needs / disability, in the best possible way - maximising opportunities, learning & development, to facilitate and enable and to have fun.

Bespoke home visiting intervention for children aged 0 - 8 years.

A home visiting intensive programme / service using a range of specialist teaching methods.  PIP services are designed to support children with learning and developmental delays in the home on a range of developmental & challenging areas.  PlayWise can advise on particular areas of development for support or support a child’s whole learning and development within the context of family life, learning and play.

Our teaching style follows the Portage method:

Family Focus - Time spent sharing and addressing families’ priorities.

Structured Teaching - Time spent reviewing and planning play based teaching activities, using the Portage small steps approach to learning.

Child-led Play - Time spent observing self-initiated play to identify individual interests, strengths and emerging skills.

This intensive teaching service will create a bespoke programme for your child looking at all areas of development: language and communication, play and social interaction skills, knowledge and understanding of the world, self-help and independence skills and behaviour and sensory development. Parents can choose how they use the hour – we can even support you with paperwork!

Parents / carers can pay by the hour for home intervention for as many hours per week as desired.  For new families, an assessment will take place during the first session and will include direct work with child and discussion with parent / carer.

A minimum of 4 x hour-long home visits (following the assessment visit) are to be carried out in order to develop a relationship with the child and create effective teaching package.  Additional hours can be added as required.
